Applying under Skilled Worker Program

There are two categories under skilled worker program, Simplified and Normal.

Under Simplified you hand in your application and wait for the respective Visa office to tell you when to send the documents, which is usually quite a bit of time.

Under Normal one you hand in your applications and documents along with your arranged employment contract approved by HRSDC. This process is much faster as you are employed by a Canadian company reducing your processing waiting time considerably.

Under either category, you will be first assessed by six selection criteria:

Education, official languages, experience, age, arranged employment and adaptability. Each one carries certain number of points. You need to have a minimum of 67 points to qualify under this program.

Languages are English and French. To get the best score you need to take a test in one of the testing institutions recognized by CIC. As well the experience can only count if it is in skill type 0 or level A or B defined by National Occupation classification of Canada.
